LOOPO
Tangible Programming Game For Kids
Loopo is an application designed to teach children the fundamentals of computer programming. It began with one central question in mind; how can we stretch computer literacy in the current education system?
In Loopo, children control an onscreen robotic avatar using physical tiles. Children are given a task to complete by instructing their robot through stringing together the necessary steps (the physical blocks) to reach the objective. This application focuses on teaching the fundamental idea behind programming; to break down a larger problem into smaller manageable steps. Loopo fuses tangible controls with digital interactions to create a visceral and engaging process. We set out to design a highly accessible pedological system for children providing them with an effective programming environment that is low-cost, approachable and fun. Loopo lies at the crossroads of psychology, pedagogy, and technology
